As one of the original Sprint Car traditions, Eldora Speedway’s annual Kings Royal weekend is shaping up to be another activity-filled affair which will be capped off by the July 18 time-honored crowning of the $50,000 King of winged Sprint Car racing with a trip to the hallowed throne. Daryn Pittman of Owasso, OK made the trip last year.

While July 17 and 18 provides a rare off-weekend from the busy NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule, that has not prevented Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne from making plans to don their helmets and get behind the wheel of a race car. The duo, both with Sprint Cup wins already under their belt this year, will return to their roots as open-wheeled winged Sprint Car drivers and participate in Eldora Speedway’s prestigious Kings Royal weekend.

On June 11 get ready to welcome track owner and NASCAR titan Tony Stewart for the first time since his appearance when the track reopened under the new high profile ownership team in 2007. Also joining Tony will be NASCAR legend Mark Martin! Macon Speedway will kick off the Night of NASCAR Stars by hosting an autograph session featuring Tony Stewart and well known NASCAR star Mark Martin, so come out to the track early to get your chance to meet Tony and Mark. The gates will open at 3:00; The NASCAR stars will be signing autographs from 4:30 to 5:30 so come out early to get your autographs. You won’t want to miss the POWRi Midgets & Micros, UMP Modifieds and UMP Street Stocks as they take to the track for the crowd on Night of NASCAR Stars II.
- Hamlin, Stewart, Busch and Logano set to trade paint for charity

Denny Hamlin, Chesterfield, Va. native and driver of the #11 FedEx Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, is once again racing for charity at Southside Speedway this spring – and he’s bringing his friends.
