Rain canceled today’s qualifying session for the AAA 400 at Dover (Del.) International Speedway. As a result, the 43-car field for Sunday’s 400-lap race around the 1-mile, concrete oval was set per the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rule book.
Because teams did not practice Friday, the lineup has been determined by 2015 owners’ points.
Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), will start seventh. Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Budweiser/Jimmy John’s Chevrolet SS for SHR, will start 15th. Danica Patrick, driver of the No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet SS for SHR, will start 24th. Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 14 Mobil 1/Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet SS for SHR, will start 25th.
Matt Kenseth, the current Sprint Cup point leader, will start first. Joining him on the outside of row one is Denny Hamlin. Carl Edwards, Joey Logano and Jimmie Johnson comprise the remainder of the top-five.
The AAA 400 gets underway at 2:30 p.m. EDT Sunday with live coverage provided by NBCSN.
